I had no idea that I would ever get involved with something like lending money to poor people, given the circumstances in which I was working in Bangladesh.
It begins and ends with money. It’s absurd in this day and age when we need so much money for education, health, for people, that a $100 million dollars can be spent on a film. It’s obscene.
I went to the bank and proposed that they lend money to the poor people. The bankers almost fell over.
Never ever discount the idea of marriage. Sure, someone might tell you that marriage is just a piece of paper. Well, so is money, and what’s more life-affirming than cold, hard cash?
But, having a perfume and license, in general, is a financial necessity. A designer must, to reap back the money spent on prototypes and all that sort of thing.
I don’t feel comfortable defending my clothes. But if you’ve got the money to afford them, then buy something from me. Just don’t buy too much.
We need more transparency and accountability in government so that people know how their money is being spent. That means putting budgets online, putting legislation online.
